Care and storage of preserved and dried flowers

Posted by Elodie Kanitzky on

In short: Preserved and dried flowers need no water, no trimming and no repotting. All that matters is the right location and careful dusting.

The right location

  • Indoors, out of direct sunlight.
  • Away from the airflow of air conditioning or heating.
  • In a room above 12 °C.
  • Below 80 % humidity, so not in bathrooms or damp cellars.
  • No light needed: the products also work in darker rooms.

How do I dust them? With a hairdryer on the cold setting and lowest airflow, held at a distance.

How should stock be stored in a shop or warehouse? Dry, dark and in the original packaging. Don't stack it, so the flowers aren't crushed.

My preserved flowers are "dripping": what should I do? This happens in cold, humid conditions. Move them to a warmer, drier room and keep them off porous materials to avoid stains.

Can I spray a moss wall with water? No. Preserved moss must never be watered or sprayed.
